VuDu update (Jan 4, 2008)
First off, Deja VuDu wants to wish everyone all the best for 2008 and we hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday season.

Since the last update, there’s been quite a bit happening. The band has been busy, busy, busy. Halloween had us playing at Big Slick’s in Westminster. One of the winners in the costume contest was none other than Deja VuDu’s Gary (Cap’n Morgan) Cable! Big Slick’s is a nice, cozy venue; the staff is great, the food is great and we’re looking forward to getting back there in mid January.

November had a Deja VuDu debut at Loose Wheels in Denison, TX. A very nice room, again with a friendly staff and excellent food. And, they have the biggest ceiling fans we have ever seen! They must be 40 feet across. Definitely a sight to see, so if you have the chance stop by and check them out.

December was a rockin’ month with Deja VuDu debuting at Rob’s Billiards in Euless, the Irish Rover in Frisco and Sting in Addison.

The highlight of December was Deja VuDu being honored to participate in a benefit for John Carr’s Legal Defense Fund. John Carr is a former President of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association (NATCA), and as a retired air traffic controller is a strong and outspoken advocate for controllers across the U.S. Deja VuDu has 2 retired controllers among it’s members, so the band is very supportive of John’s efforts. You can learn more about John on his daily blog, The Main Bang . You can also check out the picture section of our website and see John sporting a Deja VuDu t-shirt! Very fashionable! AND IT GETS EVEN BETTER!
Joining Deja VuDu for the benefit gig was Buddy Whittington , guitarist with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers. We learned a few songs from Buddy’s solo CD, did a couple of blues standards and had fun, fun, fun! Buddy is an excellent guitarist and his CD is a must-have for any music collection. So, a big VuDu thanks to Buddy for joining us on-stage and making it an unforgettable event.

Some Deja VuDu shout outs and thanks:

…..to April, Ashley, Shilene and Jessica for helping us out by filling in for some gigs. Thanks ladies!
…..to Big VuDu Buu(geaux Tigers), Vicki Harville and Michelle Foster for putting together the John Carr fundraiser. Y’all rock!
…..to Evelyn for working on our behalf in getting us in the Irish Rover.

December also saw us saying goodbye to Bob Brunner on keys. Bob was with us for going on 2 and a half years and has decided to pursue other interests. It was a pleasure performing with Bob and we wish him all the best in the future.

Please join us in now welcoming Chuck Mayo on the keyboards. Chuck has been playing keys for over 30 years, and brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience. Chuck is a great addition to the band and we’re looking forward to working and performing with him.

Thanks to all who come out to see and support the band. As always, if it weren’t for you, it wouldn’t be worth VuDu-ing! See y’all soon!
